We have all been hurt and betrayed in some way. As time goes by the pain can turn into anger and resentment if you let it. Holding onto that anger keeps you from letting go and moving forward. It slowly eats away at your peace. It makes you suffer and takes away your blessings because you cannot allow anything new to enter your life.
I realised that in order for me to forgive someone, I have to first forgive myself for not knowing better. Punishing and blaming myself for letting others hurt me, doesn’t get me anywhere. Sometimes when you keep trying to see the good in someone you don’t want to give up, so you keep hanging on. But you also can’t die trying to hang on waiting when that person is going to do right by you.
It’s ok to let people go even if you still love them and it’s also ok to love them from afar. It takes more strength to let go of someone that you still love than to stay and deprive yourself of the love you deserve.
Forgive them with pure love, empathy, grace and release them, set them free. Don’t hold onto anger. Keep your heart humble.
If you can forgive the person who betrayed and hurt you, you free yourself. It’s the most compassionate and healing gift you can give your soul.
Forgiveness takes immense strength.
To truly forgive is to truly set yourself free.
